I have been part of the EDA fabric for 22 years and possess a broad perspective spanning tools used for board, module and IC customers, as well as EDA environments from small startups to the major players. I would like to use this experience to contribute to EDAC.

For the past several years I’ve worked with EDAC on the piracy problem that plagues our industry.  Through EDAC and through direct work with commercial companies in the piracy space several commercial anti-piracy solutions have been brought to market.  This is a good start but there is still work to be done sharing best practices so all EDAC members can benefit.

EDAC’s Export Group has had great success with its lobbying efforts related to export controls and I would like to see this type of effort applied to piracy also.

Another area in which I would like to see EDAC become involved is working to define cloud computing licensing and pricing models.  Having common practices in this new area of computing will speed customer adoption and prevent duplication of effort by member companies.

I would like to serve on the EDAC Board of Directors and contribute my many years of experience to the organization. If elected, I will make it a priority to bring together the members of our industry in a spirit of cooperation so as to work towards finding solutions and strategies to address the common problems facing us and our customers throughout the EDA marketplace. I would appreciate your vote.

Thank you,
Dane Collins
