The electronics industry has been evolving at an ever increasing pace, driven by technology and economics. As a crucial component in the electronics and semiconductor value chain, the EDA industry has also rapidly innovated and adapted to these changes. The EDA Consortium has been effective in providing a forum for the industry to address common issues, both business and technical. I believe it is important to continue to work together as an industry to address new challenges and threats as the industry continues to change and evolve.
I’ve been in the EDA industry for nearly 30 years. I began my career as a chip designer in the Intel microprocessor group. In 1981, I co-founded Silicon Compilers, one of the early dedicated EDA companies. I am proud to have been a part of the growth of EDA from a few small companies supplementing in-house CAD departments to a viable, multi-billion dollar industry leveraging the global technology markets. Currently I am the President and CEO of Gradient Design Automation.
If given the chance to serve, I believe my experience and perspective can help EDAC to continue to address the challenges faced by our industry. I would very much appreciate your support.
Thank you,
Edmund Cheng
